Sea glass can be found on beaches along oceans, seas, bays, and even large rivers and lakes. These beautiful, frosted, smooth pieces of glass go by many names, including "sea gems," "beach jewels," "mermaid's tears," and "sea pearls". Sea glass starts out as trash glass from sources like bottles, jars, glasses, plates, windows, windshields, or ceramics. Unfortunately, the world's oceans end up being a dumping place for all sorts of trash, whether from ships or from those who live near the sea. Luckily, when it comes to glass, the sea does a great job of recycling pieces of glass into treasures for people to find along beaches. In fact, searching for sea glass is a popular hobby. for thousands of people.

Niagara Falls is a huge waterfall. That is located in Canada and New York. It is 2 big waterfalls. The water originally comes from The Great Lakes. It then runs over the falls. In the end, it ends up in the ocean. The falls are 180 feet high!! These falls can also make power. The water makes power for the U.S. and Canada. Long ago a woman named Annie Taylor went over the falls in a barrel made of wood. she was the first to go over the falls and live. She was 63 at the time. A man named Nik Wallenda went over the falls on a tightrope. Well he's brave! You can take a boat over Niagara falls. On the boat you get wet. There is a lot of mist. The crayons we know today were invented in the1900s. The idea to blend wax with pigment ismuch older though. It is thousands of years old.People used to mixed beeswax and pigment. They used this to color on stone. Europeans alsoused early forms of crayons. Americans made thefirst child-friendly crayons.
Joseph Binney started a company in 1864. He made lampblack. This was a color pigment. It was made from burnt oil soot. Binney’s son Edwinand his cousin Harold Smith then took over the company 20 years later. They made more colors. They made red pigments for barn paint. They also made carbon black for car tires. An ad for Crayola crayons in 1905's. The two cousins kept creating. They made pencils and chalk for schoolrooms. Finally came color crayons. Their first box had eight colors. It was sold for just five cents. Edwin’s wife came up with the name Crayola. It combined two words. The first word is craie. This is the French word forchalk. This is the word for wax. “Crayola” quickly became a common name. The Olympics came from Greece as many as 3,000 years ago. SOme elephants are so tall they reach to be 13 feet tall. That is almost as tall as two people. AN elephants ear is used for more than just hearing. An elephants ear keeps them cool. Unlike a lot of animal tribes a female elephant leads a tribe. in a tribe the girls and woman stay together. the males may stay together. most of time they don't. There are two kinds of elephants. the African elephant lives in africa. The Asian Elephant it lives in Southeast Asia. people hunt elephants for their tusks. proaching is now Illegal in the united states. even though this does not stop all hunters. people sell their tusk on the black market. this is so sad. Earth has several other incredible waterfalls that are just as impressive as Niagara Falls, but there are also thousands upon thousands of waterfalls on rivers, streams, and creeks all over the world. How exactly do all these waterfalls form?Let's consider a river as it travels over different types of rock over its course. Water is a powerful erosive agent, and different types of rock erode at different rates.
The many different types of waterways and the diffrent.erosion of the types of rock they flow over results in waterfalls in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Over the years, scientists have given names to many different types of waterfalls, including cascade, block, cataract, chute, fan, scree, slide, ribbon, horsetail, punchbowl, tiered, segmented, and plunge.while erosion is the primary process that creates waterfalls, scientists note that other natural, cataclysmic events (such as earthquakes, landslides, glaciers, and volcanoes) may also create waterfalls. Not all waterfalls have water flowing over them at all times. Rivers and streams change course over time and may leave some waterfalls dry except for periods of heavy rain or after snow melts in the spring. These waterfalls are known as seasonal waterfalls. |
