The Olympics came from Greece as many as 3,000 years ago. From the 8th century to the 4th century the Olympics were held in Olympia, Greece. This event was to honor the Greece god Zeus. The first modern Olympic started in Athens, Greece. Since then, they have been held every four years except during the 2 world wars. But starting in 1994, the winter games were held two years before the Summer Olympics. Almost 250 athletes from 14 nations compete in 43 events. The first written records of the ancient Olympic games are from 776 B.C. Coroebus, a cook became the first Olympic champion. when, he won the ONLY event (192 meters called Shade). The ancient Olympics were held every four years between August 6th and September 19th. Each four years were known as Olympiad. After, 13 added just 2 more races! the 43 events include, Track and Field, Gymnastics, Swimming, Wresling, Cycling, Tennis, Wightlifting, Shooting and fencing.
